Gregg Renfrew is no stranger to entrepreneurial ventures. She started off her adult life studying English at the University of Vermont and afterwards transitioned to starting her own company called The Wedding List. Her ideas and skill in business were good enough to catch the attention of Martha Stewart, who decided to buy the company in 2001.
Renfrew did not stop there. In 2013, she launched Beautycounter, a skincare and cosmetics network marketing company “devoted to progress.” Her reason? She had learned that many personal care companies in the U.S. are not regulated and even use harmful ingredients in their products.
Beautycounter’s products utilize non-toxic products to counter the more than 80,000 chemicals used in the cosmetic industry today. The company is even actively establishing a ‘Never List’ of 1500 of these harmful ingredients which Renfrew can use as she actively lobbies for regulation in the cosmetics industry.
Along with her desire to help people, Renfrew quite possibly decided to use the MLM business model because of her history in studying English. She believes in the power of a story.
Fast forward to today, Renfrew resides in California and has built Beautycounter into one of the most successful and recognized skincare and cosmetic companies in the MLM industry. She has also recently been honored by Goldman Sachs as one of the Top 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2017.
