“Stop chasing money and start chasing your passions.” – Tony Hsieh
What is the opposite of happiness?
Tim Ferriss believes, “The opposite of love is indifference, and the opposite of happiness is boredom.” This resonates much more with me than an answer like “sadness.”
Really take a minute to think about that. It may not be 100% accurate, but it is a far better answer to the question above. So many people settle for a job that they hate because it is a safe way to bring home the bacon. Ok, maybe hate is a strong word to use there, how about that they are “bored” with?
This isn’t a bashing session on making an honest living. Some people are very content with where they are and that’s great. This is a call to action for those who are unhappy with where they are at. Don’t do something for the sole reason of making money, there are plenty of ways to do that.
However, you also do not need to bust down the door to your job and yell that you are quitting. How about you just take a single step in the direction of your passion. For now, you can work full time at your job and part time on your dream. There is no rule against doing both. At least until you are able to work on your dream full-time.
Time has a way of flying past us while we look back puzzled as to where it went.
Your passion for something can take you further than you think if you would just let it. This “passion” does not need to be the actual job itself; your passion could be traveling or more time with family. Become successful in something that will allow you to do what you are passionate about! It’s never too late to start, time is ticking!
